Swan Square

Swan Square was an important thoroughfare up until the building of the New Bridge as all trade imported into the town (or leaving it) via the quay, came across the Old Bridge (in front of you) and made its way along Bridge Street on your right.

Up until the 1960s, an ancient coaching inn named the Swan Hotel stood where the supermarket stands on the left. It was the demolition of the hotel that prompted the start of Haverfordwest Civic Society in 1964.
